Young Peoples Parliament - Millennium Point

Thursday 20th March 2003, 9 of our pupils visited Millennium Point to go to the Young Peoples Parliament. The day began with a very striking Power Point Presentation with moving music and thought provoking questions like... "If there is a God then why is there suffering in the world?"

The whole YPP did a survey using the electronic keypads on each chair about moral dilemmas, the results came immediately on the large screens, you can see these on the digital photographs.

We were then spoken to by Roop Singh a renowned speaker, again he was very thought provoking.

The lads were then put into seminar groups where they discussed issues such as war, abortion and organ donation.

The day was interupted by BBC camera crew who were filming for the evening news, unfortunately this was not broadcast. Mr. Lomas and Michael Skerrett were also interviewed by the Evening Mail, we hope that this will be published.

The day ended with a discussion of the topics with representatives of the different faith communities - Christian, Jewish, Sikh and Muslim.

It was a day where our pupils had the chance to experience the diversity of our great city, they behaved extremely well and were a credit to KNBS.
