Sex
Education is integrated into several areas of the curriculum
throughout years 7 to 11, principally through Science, Religious
Education and the PSE Programme.
Our
approach aims to integrate the elements of Sex Education into the
whole curriculum and incorporates work on human body processes,
disease, self-awareness, inter-relationships and the religious and
moral basis of personal behaviour. Our purpose is to encourage right
and respectful relationships between individuals who are aware of
their own development and responsibilities.
Parents
have a statutory right to withdraw their children from those
elements of the Sex Education programme that are not part of
National Curriculum Science. Any such requests should initially be
in the form of a letter to the Headteacher.
Copies
of the School's full Sex Education Policy approved by the Governors
in line with recent legislation are available from the school
office.
