Acceptable Use Statement

For Pupils in Years 7 to 13

The school has installed computers with Internet access to help enhance the education of all pupils. These rules will keep you safe and help the school to be fair to others. As a student at King's Norton Boys' School, you are bound by the terms in this agreement

1	I will only access the system with my own username and password, which I will keep secret.
2	I will not enter a computer room unless I have been given permission.
3	I will not access other people's files or user area's.
4	I will only use the computers for school work and homework.
5	I will not bring in floppy disks from outside school unless I have been given permission.
6	I will ask permission from a member of staff before using the Internet.
7	I will only E-mail people I know, or my teacher has approved.
8	The messages I send via Email will be polite and responsible.
9	I will not visit Internet sites that I know may contain material of an unsuitable nature.
10	I will respect copyright rules whilst using the computer systems.
11	I will not post or forward anonymous messages on the Network or Internet.
12	I will always ask the person supervising me before downloading any material from the Internet.
13	I will not install programs onto any school computer.
14	I will take care not to infect the computer systems with viruses and I shall always use the Anti-Virus software.
15	I will not give my home address or telephone number, or arrange to meet someone, unless my parent, carer or teacher has given permission;
16	I will report any unpleasant material or messages sent to me. I understand this report would be confidential and would help protect other pupils and myself;
17	I will not use the school computers to play games unless I have been given permission.
18	I will not attempt to plug or unplug any leads from the rear of the computers
19	I will not remove the cover or balls from the underside of a mouse
20	I will not eat or drink in a computer room.
21	I will always leave my workstation and my chair tidy when I have finished my session.

I understand that the school may check my computer files and may monitor the Internet sites I visit, and that the use of the computer systems without permission or for a purpose not agreed by the school could constitute a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.
